Physical Therapy

The physical therapy evaluation will be conducted by a licensed Physical Therapist who can assess the following depending on the diagnosis:

  • muscle strength,
  • muscle tone,
  • active and passive range of motion,
  • neurological/sensory testing,
  • balance/equilibrium/reflex testing,
  • pain tolerance/scale,
  • trigger point assessment, as well as
  • postural alignment.

The Physical Therapist will also take a detailed account as to what type of injury/disability the patient is experiencing. Using all of the above information the patient and the therapist will develop a treatment plan and goals. The patient is a VERY important part of this process, as if the patient does not feel the goals are realistic or appropriate, they will not be achieved. The number one goal of therapy is to return the patient to his prior level of function if possible. The patient is the most important part of that process. This is a team effort.

Our adult physical therapy programs are delivered by licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants to individuals to help develop, restore and maintain maximum movement in the body over a patient's lifespan. Physical therapists can also recommend and fit a patient for adaptive equipment such as orthotics/prosthetics, sport braces/supports, walkers, canes, strollers, wheelchairs, specialized seating, and bath systems. Physical Therapists use a variety of manual techniques such as traction, joint mobilizations and massage, modalities such as E-Stim and Ultrasound, as well as strengthening and cardiovascular equipment to achieve the desired goal of the adult physical therapy program.
Physical therapy will be conducted based on the frequency determined during your evaluation by your Physical Therapist. Therapy sessions are designed around an individualized plan of care to return you to your prior level of function as soon as possible. Your adult physical therapy program will address your individualized needs. Therapy can be conducted in our Crestview Physical Therapy Clinic. An aquatic exercise program is available at this location. Detailed home exercise programs are available to incorporate therapy techniques into the home and community settings.
